This is a replica fossil, cast from the original fossil of the famous Megalosaurus jaw and teeth which was originally discovered by William Buckland in a quarry near Oxford in the UK.
Buckland wrote a paper on his find which described for the first time, a type of animal, we know now as Dinosaurs.
The find was named Megalosaurus meaning 'great lizard' however it wasn't until 20 years later Sir Richard Owen coined the name Dinosaur meaning 'terrible lizard'.
This replica measures 28.5cm X 13.5cm and is hand made and painted.
Comes with removeable rock effect display base (optional)
Black presentation grade box with magnet closure.
